February 2018 Newsletter Submission
We faced our first cold weather snap in January and I am happy to report it only lasted a few days. It didn’t feel much like we were in Florida for that short period of time, but happy to be back to normal Florida winter weather! February 11th is Make a Friend Day. This is a great opportunity to reach out to a resident or someone that you do not know, introduce yourself and just maybe make a new friend.
The most recent meeting of the HOA Board of Directors was held in the ballroom on December 15th, 2017. Here are a few highlights from that meeting; Bill Boutin briefed the board on the research completed by the Spectrum cable contract Ad Hoc Committee. The board agreed that the committee would continue to do additional research and possible surveys to determine the direction the community would explore with a new contract. Van Bradley, the chair-person of the Golf Ad Hoc Committee for maintenance and marketing submitted their final reports to the Board of Directors. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone that worked on these committees. They worked hard and put a lot of time into a short 120-day period. The Committee produced several suggestions including short and long-term maintenance goals, a better marketing plan and suggestions to increase overall revenue.
Two letters of recommendation were submitted by Groves residents and the HOA Board approved Girard Employee Aisel Burgos to receive the Contractor Recognition Award. She will receive a $200.00 award for going above and beyond in support of our community. On a final note, Mark’s Concrete has resurfaced the areas just outside the golf course comfort stations on holes #5 and #14. Both areas look great!
The HOA Board would also like to welcome Clarence Knight as the new Chairman of the Compliance Committee. Clare does a lot of work in support of our community and we know that he will do a great job in guiding this committee. For those of you who do not know, Clare is our volunteer web master and has worked tirelessly in support of the Groves Golf and Country Club Website. Clare is responsible for the complete makeover of our website. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out, go to thegroveshoa.org. The Board thanks you very much for all your efforts. Your work has been noticed!
