HOA Board News Submitted by Glenn Douglass, HOA President
We welcome in the month of November as October has come and gone. So much for the start of the transition in October from hot and humid to the more pleasant weather. Mother Nature has not cooperated much. We still await the break in the heat and humidity and the arrival of the best weather months. Our friends and neighbors from the North will continue to return to the community as we enjoy the start of the most pleasant months of the year in Florida. Welcome back to all our residents who have already returned and will be returning in the next few weeks. We wish you safe travels.
The most recent meeting of the HOA Board of Directors was held in the Ballroom on September 17. Here are a few highlights from that meeting: The Board approved the Meeting and Holiday Calendar for 2018. After Hurricane Irma blew through the community, trash pickup quickly became a serious issue with no pickups for three trash cycles. Bill Boutin briefed the Board on several complaints about trash and recycle pickup and drafted a letter to Waste Connections of Florida as well as the County. This letter was approved and sent. Tom Dee briefed the Board on resident interest in adding additional dates for picking up recyclables. Tom is exploring this possibility and we will report back at the next HOA Board Meeting.
Richard Loar briefed the Board on the recommendation from the Roofing Committee to assign a Project Manager. The Project Manager’s first responsibility would be to generate a project manual and perform initial roof inspections. The Committee also recommended GAF as the manufacturer for the reroofing project. The GAF recommendation was largely based on the twenty-year Workmanship and Material Leakproof Warranty on the Club Homes and twenty-five years on the Courtyard and Patio Homes. Another positive feature with GAF is that they will allow the HOA to hold the warranty for administrative purposes, which will eliminate the voiding of warranty if the property should change ownership. On behalf of the HOA Board of Directors, I would like to thank the Roofing Committee, Dick Loar, Bill Reinhardt, Bob Dietz, Ron Tamborski and Jim Nearey, for all the hard work they have done and continue to do in support of our community.
And now a few things from the Pro Shop. The guidelines for handicapped flags have been updated and the Pro Shop has advised that all players who have and use a handicap flag “MUST” recertify to continue to use their flags on the course. Please visit the Pro Shop staff to complete recertification. The HOA Board has with complete cooperation from the Men’s and Women’s Leagues, approved a change to Saturday League play during the winter months. The Leagues will combine to play on the first and third Saturdays of the month as well as the fifth Saturday when it occurs. This opens the second and fourth Saturdays for open play for the public in hopes of increasing revenues on these weeks. The Board also approved the purchase of a flipboard for use during tournaments and league play. The Golf Committee recommended Mike Marek to fill an open spot on their Committee. The Board unanimously approved this recommendation and appointed Mike to the Golf Committee. Thank you very much, Mike, for volunteering to serve our community. It is very much appreciated.
